Mazda Rotary Engines:

Those in the know are well acquainted with the Mazda Rotary Engine. Why do we love Rotary Engines here at Rockdale Mazda? Simple, because Rotary Engines:

  • are smooth and rev very high. A simplistic approach with few moving parts removes the reciprocating mass associated with piston engines
  • leads to high power to weight ratio. For its size, the Mazda Rotary Engine has an awesome reputation of producing high power per litre.
  • it also is lighter in its design that makes it a very reliable engine
  • and our customers absolutely love them
  • and we love Mazda’s

Toyo Kogyo (now known as Mazda Motor Corporation) was awarded the rights to build the classic Wankel Rotary Engine back in the 60’s. A Rotary Engine development division was set up and now the rest is history.

The Rotary Engine is a racing icon and has a pedigree thanks to Le Mans and a little closer to home, Mt Panorama at Bathurst.

In 1969, the R100 was launched into the Australian market and its performance definitely exceeded expectation. The RX2 was quickly followed by the RX3, RX4, RX5. The Factory race team developed the RX7 that saw the rotary engine win every Australia Touring car cap other than Bathurst.

Entering the world of drag racing, the Rotary engine has become legendary. Its performance and strength and durability is firmly entrenched in many straight line passes.

Road or track, Rockdale Mazda is passionate about keeping your rotary moving. From a rotor, housing or an eccentric shaft. Be it regular maintenance or a total strip down, contact the team at Rockdale Mazda for your genuine Mazda Rotary parts.
