Mazda’s stunning Shinari concept has made its major international motor show debut being unveiled at Mazda’s press conference at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. Having previously only been unveiled to the media at a recent European event, this is the first opportunity for the public to get close to Shinari which showcases Mazda’s new global design language, Kodo or ‘Soul of Motion’.

Performing in Mazda’s biennial technician skills contest, Maztech, the country’s top eight technicians pitted their considerable experience against each other and a selection of technical challenges devised by Mazda Australia’s technical training team and field staff.

The first day of competitive racing at the Targa High Country rally proved to be bittersweet for Mazda Motorsport with both team cars having contrasting fortunes as they faced today’s eight competitive stages from Mount Buller to Wangaratta and back. While the RX-8 SP’s tilt at the Targa High Country title has ended prematurely, Brendan Reeves has steered the Mazda3 MPS into the Showroom category lead and an impressive sixth outright.

Peter Brown and co-driver Stewart Gamble have today re-written the record books by piloting their Mazda supported Mazda3 Diesel to overall victory in the Showroom class at the Targa High Country rally. This is the first time ever a diesel entrant has sat atop the podium at a Targa rally event.

Mazda Motor Corporation’s Hofu Plant in Yamaguchi prefecture, Japan has reached a cumulative production volume of nine million units. This milestone was achieved in the 28 years and two months since vehicle production commenced in September 1982. The cumulative volume rose from eight to nine million units in just 29 months due to high volumes of the Mazda3, which commenced production in November 2008.
