This lightweight car with minimal mechanical complexity was conceived as a small, light roadster. All three generations of the MX-5 have used the design credo: Jinba Ittai, which means Rider and Horse as one - which is definitely something one wants from a sports car. This third generation model has significant front end changes, with sterner headlights and a wide-mouth grill.
The Mazda MX-5 is a 2.0 liter in-line 4 cylinder 16 valve car with a rear-wheel drive. It also comes with a four-wheel independent double wishbone suspension. It has a longitudinally-mounted four cylinder engine. The Soft-top Touring comes with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the Roadster Coupe has a 6-speed manual transmission and an optional 6-speed Activematic.
With maximum power of 118 kW @7,000 rpm and maximum torque of 188 Nm @ 5,000 rpm, this little sports car is all set to take on the roads.
The MX-5s contours and movement give it a look of athletic muscularity and that screams "sports car". The drive is extremely comfortable with superior handling stability and nimbleness. The MX-5's new, more pointy front end is expected to make the car two per cent more aerodynamic, again, much appreciated in a sports car.
The interiors are very comfortable, mainly because the MX-5 is supposed to be a car that you can use everyday - so it's sporty while being good for everyday driving. The two seats also make this a practical car with plenty of room for two adults and enough cubbyholes for storage.
Available as either a soft top or fully automatic retractable hard-top coupe, the MX-5 is more than just high power output, it delivers a complete package aimed at fulfilling the desires of light-weight sports car enthusiasts.
Safety features include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Traction Control System (TCS) and front and side airbags and more.
Following the "Jinba Ittai" philosophy, the MX-5 combines the ultimate in balance and harmony. The MX-5 is a light, attractive, easy and fun roadster to drive.
