At the moment, Mazda is advancing its Building Block Strategy, which prioritizes the advancement of base technologies by working to develop more proficient engines and transmissions while also reducing vehicle weight. Mazda will progressively bring in more electric devices such as regenerative breaking and hybrid systems. Initially, the results of the strategy will be that products featuring Mazda’s new, eco-friendly SKYACTIV technologies will be moving into the markets at some stage this year.

Similarly, with the Building Block Strategy Mazda is also continuing with the research and development into EVs which are designed specifically for customers who travel short city distances frequently. Through the lease of the EV program, Mazda aims to increase its knowledge of EV usage requirements and electric drive technologies.

The internal combustion engine is anticipated to remain the main feature of the automobile for the near future. Going onward, Mazda will continue to further improve and develop on its base technologies which are centred on internal combustion. At the same time, Mazda will also proceed with the development of eco-friendly technologies with the sole purpose of being able to offer all Mazda customers driving pleasure as well as exceptional environmental and safety performance.
