Mazda has confirmed that the stunning SHINARI concept car will make its regional debut when it is displayed at the Australian International Motor Show in Melbourne from 1 – 10 July.
After being unveiled to critical acclaim at international motor shows in Shanghai, Los Angeles and Geneva, it’s now the turn of the Australian public to get close to SHINARI, the first concept vehicle to be created by Ikuo Maeda in his new role as Mazda’s global director of design.
The new Mazda2 Genki benefitting from a host of additional features and a keen price arrives in Australian showrooms this week.
In line with the Genki’s status as the range-topping Mazda2, the new features will further increase occupant comfort and improve the driving experience.
Mazda 3 has officially been names as the “Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS). The IIHS gave the highest possible score for crash safety to the Mazda 3, after rating the vehicle as “Good” in all four of the crash safety tests conducted.
“Nearly half of all Mazdas sold in the United States are Mazda3s, so we are justifiably proud of the 2011 Mazda3 earning the distinction of the IIHS ‘Top Safety Pick,” said Jim O’Sullivan, the President/CEO of Mazda North American Operations (MNAO). Jim O’Sullivan also made it clear that each impeccably designed Mazda vehicle not only looks great, but more importantly also has an extensively strong focus on the safety and quality aspects by also saying: “Both the sedan and hatchback models are recognized with this award, examples of Mazda’s dedication not only to producing engaging and fun-to-drive vehicles but those offering the utmost quality and safety.”
With just two weeks until Targa Tasmania 2011, the Mazda Motorsport team have been doing the final evaluations and finishing touches to perfect its turbo-charge trio. The Mazda Motorsport team have been working around the clock in the weeks leading up to the gruelling five day motorsport event.
The duel Mazda RX-8 SPs will both be lining up at an intense testing session at Wakefield Park Raceway. This will be the ultimate evaluation of both cars in action and the final chance for the team to do any last minute fine-tuning to prepare the cars for one of the toughest tarmac rallies in the world.
Mazda Motor Corporation is independently in the process of developing an electric vehicle (EV) with the intentions of releasing the newest Mazda vehicle within the first half of 2012. The new EV is based on the Mazda2/Demio Subcompact and is said to have a driving range of 200 kilometres and is intended to be leased to government bodies and fleet customers.
At the moment, Mazda is advancing its Building Block Strategy, which prioritizes the advancement of base technologies by working to develop more proficient engines and transmissions while also reducing vehicle weight. Mazda will progressively bring in more electric devices such as regenerative breaking and hybrid systems. Initially, the results of the strategy will be that products featuring Mazda’s new, eco-friendly SKYACTIV technologies will be moving into the markets at some stage this year.
Similarly, with the Building Block Strategy Mazda is also continuing with the research and development into EVs which are designed specifically for customers who travel short city distances frequently. Through the lease of the EV program, Mazda aims to increase its knowledge of EV usage requirements and electric drive technologies.
The internal combustion engine is anticipated to remain the main feature of the automobile for the near future. Going onward, Mazda will continue to further improve and develop on its base technologies which are centred on internal combustion.
